Artwork/Artist Description: I was Mayde to hold weight, like stone or concrete - weathered by time, shaped by pressure. On the outside, I carry cracks and roughness, a hardened shell meant to protect and deflect. But beneath that surface, when the mask slips, there's emptiness; fragments held together by will alone. The taped on smile is not for comfort, it's survival. A fragile attempt to conceal the quiet ache, the silent erosion. I wasn't Mayde to be soft but I wasn't Mayde to break either. I was Mayde to endure, even when it hurts. Especially when it hurts.
