Artwork Description: Higson Lane, Melbourne is part of a series exploring Melbourne’s streets and laneways.
I'm an artist and author based in Gippsland, Victoria, originally from Melbourne. My work is all about capturing the charm and character of urban life – street scenes, old shopfronts, music venues, and historic buildings. I’m drawn to places that hold stories, especially those that are starting to disappear from the landscape. I also enjoy painting still life, abstracts, portraits, and country scenes. Over the past twenty years I’ve held solo exhibitions around Victoria and shown work interstate. I’m also passionate about music and have written a five-volume book series called “Blues Portrait – A Profile of the Australian Blues Scene” celebrating the Australian blues scene. In 2024, I was honoured to receive the Allan Stafford Award for Services to Blues Music from the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society. Whether I’m painting or writing, I love telling stories and preserving moments in time.
